Auto klub Vinkovci celebrates 100 years of operation

Auto klub Vinkovci celebrated its 100th anniversary with a ceremony held at the Vinkovci City Library and Reading Room. To mark the centenary, a monograph written by Vladimir Ćirić detailing the club's history was presented.

Founded on February 8, 1926, as Moto klub Sremac, the organization is among the oldest auto clubs in this part of Europe. At its inception, the town of Vinkovci had approximately 12,000 residents, and only three of the original 35 members owned automobiles. Following a brief hiatus after World War II, the group was reactivated as a section of folk technology before becoming an independent entity known as Auto moto društvo Vinkovci in 1949.

Today, the club has approximately 3,000 members and is recognized as a fundamental auto club in Croatia. In addition to membership services, it operates technical inspections and a Regional Examination Center for driver's licenses. The club also focuses on traffic prevention, specifically targeting vulnerable road users such as children, cyclists, motorcyclists, and e-scooter users. Mayor Josip Romić and Club President Ivo Bikić both highlighted the organization's long-standing role in the community and its evolution alongside changing technologies and generations.
