Auto parts industry shifts toward high-value manufacturing
The auto parts industry is entering a phase defined by technological innovation, digitalization, and high-value manufacturing. Francisco N. González Díaz, executive president of the Industria Nacional de Autopartes (INA), stated during the XXIV International Automotive Industry Congress in Mexico (CIIAM) that the future of innovation has already reached Mexican factories.
While Mexico is recognized as a global automotive manufacturing hub, the sector—which records annual sales near $120 billion—faces challenges in maintaining competitiveness. Key hurdles include the reconfiguration of global supply chains and evolving trade rules within North America. González Díaz emphasized that competitive advantage will increasingly depend on the efficiency of supply chains and the ability to produce higher-value components.
