AUTOCRYPT wins DEF CON 34 Car Hacking Village competition
South Korean automotive cybersecurity firm AUTOCRYPT won first place in the Car Hacking Village Capture the Flag (CTF) competition at DEF CON 34 in Las Vegas. The company’s Red Team outperformed 83 international teams, becoming the first in the event's history to complete every challenge on the roster. The team finished all tasks in 25 hours, half of the allotted 50-hour window.
The competition required participants to identify attack vectors, find vulnerabilities, and break cryptographic protections across various testbeds, including electronic control units and full production vehicle architectures.
AUTOCRYPT attributed its success to a collaborative approach between human security researchers and its proprietary AI-powered security analysis platform. In this method, autonomous AI agents performed high-volume tasks such as combing through firmware and probing subsystems, while human experts verified the findings and made final strategic decisions. This victory follows the company's previous participation in 2022, where they also took first place, and a third-place finish last year.
