Autofarma announces closure of branches after 60 years

Autofarma, a pharmacy chain operating for nearly 60 years, has announced the closure of its branches due to an unsustainable financial situation. The company stated that the decision was not due to a lack of commitment but was forced by a prolonged period of non-payment for services rendered to OSEF.

This lack of payment created a critical financial crisis, making it impossible for the company to replenish stock or meet regular obligations with drugstores and other essential suppliers. Autofarma noted that funds intended for inventory were instead diverted to cover urgent obligations to workers, suppliers, and other creditors.

The company rejected a proposal from OSEF to settle part of the debt through a reduction and installment plan, stating the offer did not guarantee the payment of owed salaries or the continuity of its operations. Autofarma has called on the Government of Tierra del Fuego, specifically through OSEF and the Ministry of Health, to settle outstanding debts immediately.
