Autofarma pharmacy chain closes operations in Patagonia

The Patagonian pharmacy chain Autofarma has announced the closure of its operations after nearly sixty years of service in Tierra del Fuego and Santa Cruz. The company, owned by the Llaneza brothers, cited an unsustainable financial situation as the primary reason for the shutdown.

According to official statements, the retailer faced difficulties in replenishing stock and meeting obligations to drugstores and essential suppliers. The company also noted unpaid claims from the Fuegian State Social Work (OSEF). Funds intended for inventory were reportedly diverted to cover urgent obligations to workers and other creditors.

Local reports have raised allegations regarding the nature of the bankruptcy, mentioning potential links to offshore businesses and shell companies. Furthermore, Daniel and Rubén Llaneza are reportedly under investigation by Federal Justice regarding their alleged involvement in laundering funds through international structures.
