Autograph seeker apologizes to Harry Styles after NYC encounter
A man identifying himself as the “world’s top autograph seeker” has issued a public apology to singer Harry Styles following a viral confrontation in New York City. The incident occurred on Wednesday, October 21, while Styles was walking near Madison Square Garden, where he is performing a 30-show residency.
Footage released by TMZ showed the man, identified as Giovanni, following the artist and becoming increasingly agitated while requesting an autograph for Styles' latest album, “Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally”. While initial reports described the encounter as a “heated exchange,” Giovanni released a statement on Instagram taking full responsibility for his behavior.
In his apology, Giovanni stated that he was having a bad day and that Styles remained calm throughout the interaction, even attempting to de-escalate the situation. “The headlines suggesting Harry lost his cool couldn’t be further from the truth,” Giovanni wrote, noting that Styles has treated him with respect since their first encounter in 2012.
