Autogrill launches Piacenza 1714 to promote Italian DOP and IGP products

Autogrill, part of Avolta, has launched ‘Piacenza 1714’, the fourth recipe in its ‘Origini Edition’ project. The initiative, developed in collaboration with Fondazione Qualivita, aims to promote Italian DOP and IGP products across Autogrill’s extensive network of nearly 400 locations, including highways and airports.

The new sandwich features Coppa Piacentina DOP, Asiago DOP Fresco, and Aceto Balsamico di Modena IGP, complemented by artichoke cream and lamb's lettuce. The name ‘1714’ references a historical account from the archives of the Alberoni College, noting that in that year, Cardinal Giulio Alberoni used local salumi, specifically Coppa Piacentina, as diplomatic gifts within the Spanish court.

Luca D’Alba, General Manager Italy F&B of Avolta, stated that the project leverages the company’s logistics and retail network to provide visibility to Italian food excellence and create economic momentum for certified producers. The project is supported by the Italian Ministry of Agriculture, Fipe, and Masaf.
