Automakers pivot toward electric vehicles and revived SUV models

The automotive industry is seeing significant shifts as manufacturers adapt to electrification and evolving consumer demands. Hyundai has introduced the Ioniq 9 Performance, a fully electric SUV featuring a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system. This model produces 430 horsepower and 698 Nm of torque, capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds. It is equipped with a 620 kWh battery that supports DC fast charging, allowing a 10% to 80% charge in 24 minutes.

In the luxury and off-road segments, Mitsubishi is reviving the Pajero after a five-year hiatus. Built on the Triton chassis, the new generation features a 2.4-liter turbo diesel engine with 204 horsepower and a Super Select 4WD-II system. The model is expected to launch in Thailand before expanding to Japan and Australia by March 2027. Meanwhile, Range Rover is transitioning to electric power with a new model delivering 542 horsepower and a 535 km range, while Mazda is updating its MX-5 with a 1.5-liter Skyactiv-G engine to maintain its lightweight driving philosophy.
