Yozgat vehicle fraud attempt thwarted by police

A sophisticated vehicle fraud attempt, known locally as the ‘sazan sarmalı’ (carp spiral) method, was thwarted in the Yerköy district of Yozgat. The victim, Sedat Çöker, was attempting to sell his car for 1,295,000 TL.

A suspect, identified as İ. C., impersonated a doctor to gain trust and sent a 2,000 TL deposit to secure the vehicle. After Çöker removed the online advertisement at the suspect's request, the perpetrator used the car's photos and details to create a fraudulent listing, attempting to sell the same vehicle to buyers from Konya for 890,000 TL.

The scam was uncovered when the buyers from Konya arrived to inspect the vehicle and noticed the price discrepancy. Çöker sought assistance from local police, who confirmed the fraudulent nature of the transaction and prevented the buyers from losing their money.
