Automation advances in the cleaning robotics sector

The automated cleaning sector is seeing diverse technological approaches, ranging from specialized industrial machines to humanoid models.

Kärcher is introducing autonomous floor care solutions, such as the KIRA B 200 robotic scrubber dryer, designed for modern distribution centres. These machines utilize 360-degree LiDAR and multi-sensor navigation to operate safely alongside human employees in dynamic warehouse environments. The technology aims to address labor shortages and maintain safety standards by preventing dust accumulation that can interfere with automated handling equipment.

In a different approach, San Francisco-based startup Tau Robotics is testing a rental model for humanoid cleaning robots at a rate of 30 USD per hour. These robots use a hybrid control system combining artificial intelligence with human operators. While testing has shown success in basic kitchen and bathroom tasks, challenges remain regarding speed compared to humans and the ability to navigate complex environments or process verbal commands.
