Automation Summit in Split highlights AI implementation challenges

The third edition of the Automation Summit, held on October 15 and 16 in Split, Croatia, brought together business and technology leaders from over 140 companies to discuss the practical realities of artificial intelligence.

Discussions revealed that while AI technology is functional, its integration into organizations is often hindered by outdated information systems, poorly structured documents, and unclear regulatory processes. Experts noted that AI acts as a mirror for an organization: it accelerates existing bad processes and can create automated workflows that lack clear ownership if management does not define decision-making boundaries.

A key case study presented by Ivana Slović Gudurić from Delta Holding illustrated that even with 5,000 employees and numerous pilot projects, AI initiatives can fail to reach production without clear accountability for processes. Success was only achieved after providing employees with security boundaries, education, and the authority to build their own solutions, resulting in over 300 automations that save hundreds of working hours weekly.
