Automechanika trade fairs highlight shifts in global automotive aftermarket

The global automotive aftermarket industry is undergoing significant technological shifts, as highlighted by recent Automechanika trade fairs. The 2026 Automechanika Frankfurt event saw over 112,000 professional visitors from 173 countries and 4,400 exhibitors. Key industry trends focused on artificial intelligence, software-defined vehicles, connected cars, and alternative powertrains. The event emphasized the convergence of technologies, such as AI-driven diagnostics and electric vehicle battery repair, which are reshaping independent garages.

In Southeast Asia, the inaugural Automechanika Jakarta featured more than 300 companies, with approximately 60 percent being domestic and 40 percent international. The exhibition, held at the Nusantara International Convention Center, showcased components ranging from engine parts to electric vehicle technology, signaling Indonesia's growing importance in the regional automotive market.

Additionally, market observations from the Turin Motor Show indicated a strong commercial advance by Chinese brands, which accounted for nearly 40 percent of participating brands, signaling a shift in the competitive landscape for the B2B sector.
