Automotive and energy sectors face technical and regulatory challenges
The automotive after-sales sector is calling for an update to repair warranty regulations to better reflect modern vehicle complexity. During a roundtable at Ganvam Jurídico, experts noted that current criteria, designed in the 20th century, are insufficient for today’s connected, electrified, and software-dependent vehicles. The integration of numerous control units, sensors, and digital services makes determining causality for faults difficult, as issues may stem from software updates or electronic incompatibilities rather than physical components.
In a separate industrial concern, specialists in the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) sector are warning about the wear of equipment that has been in operation for over twenty years. Maintaining CNG compressors is critical to avoid costly repairs and prolonged service interruptions. Estimates suggest annual maintenance costs around USD 4,000, while a new compressor can cost approximately USD 160,000. Proactive maintenance is emphasized to prevent station downtime and ensure consistent gas supply.
