Automotive brands BMW and Chery expand presence in Colombia

The Colombian automotive market is seeing significant activity from international brands. BMW has launched the iX3 in Colombia, marking the debut of its Neue Klasse series. Built on a modern electric architecture, the vehicle features 800-volt technology capable of 400 kW charging speeds. The model offers an extended range of up to 805 kilometers under the WLTP cycle and can recover 150 kilometers of range in 10 minutes. The 50 xDrive version delivers 469 horsepower and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds.

Simultaneously, the Chinese brand Chery has achieved a significant milestone in the Tolima region, entering the top nine for light vehicle sales. According to RUNT data through July 2026, Chery reached a 3.96% market share in the department, up from 0.28% in 2024. To support this growth, Chery and Autolima have invested over 700 million pesos to modernize facilities in Ibagué, a move expected to generate more than 30 direct and indirect jobs.
