Automotive history: Nissan Fairlady 1500 and Alpine A310 Vision
The Nissan Datsun Fairlady 1500, released in October 1962, is highlighted for its blend of elegant styling and rigorous performance. Featuring a design reminiscent of British classic roadsters with round headlights and chrome accents, the vehicle utilized a chassis based on the first-generation Bluebird. Despite its graceful appearance, it was engineered for serious driving, employing an X-shaped reinforcement member for body rigidity and a 1488cc G-type inline four-cylinder engine.
In contemporary design news, Alpine has unveiled the A310 Vision concept car. Designed by Anthony Villain, the concept draws inspiration from 1970s aesthetics, featuring a sharp, sloping hood and a pop-down headlight function. The design balances angular upper bodywork with organic lower lines, including translucent sections below the driver's door. While not a production model, the concept was designed with regulatory geometry and platform flexibility in mind to demonstrate the evolution of the brand's design language.
