Automotive industry faces challenges in system modernization

A study by Rocket Software, conducted by UserEvidence, highlights significant challenges facing IT leaders in the automotive industry as they attempt to modernize critical systems. The research indicates that while companies are actively updating production, supply chain, and inventory management systems, they face issues regarding data integrity, application complexity, and operational risks.

Key findings show that only 35% of respondents have a centralized and coordinated modernization program. Furthermore, while 70% of companies feel moderately confident in their ability to modernize without disrupting production, over one-third have experienced unplanned service interruptions, instability, or increased short-term costs. The study notes a trend toward hybrid architectures, with half of the surveyed professionals favoring a model that combines core systems with cloud-native extensions.
