Automotive industry looks back at Škoda and Opel legacies

Automotive enthusiasts and designers are revisiting iconic vehicle models through retrospective analysis and modern conceptualization.

Using artificial intelligence, designers have created a virtual concept for a modern successor to the legendary Škoda 110 R coupé. This concept applies Škoda’s ‘Modern Solid’ design language, featuring the ‘Tech-Deck Face’ mask and a rear inspired by the Enyaq electric SUV, while maintaining the silhouette of the original 1970s model.

In a separate retrospective, the Opel Astra F is marking 35 years since its introduction. Replacing the Kadett nameplate in 1991, the Astra F became a significant commercial success, with nearly 3.8 million units produced across various body styles including hatchbacks, sedans, caravans, and a Bertone-designed convertible. The model was noted for its aerodynamic design, safety features, and early adoption of recycled materials in its interior.
