While proponents claim the method removes greasy residue and helps rainwater bead off the glass, specialists warn that the abrasive nature of baking soda could potentially cause damage to the glass surface. They also note that even seemingly clean windshields can scatter light and cause glare during night driving if a thin layer of grime remains.
