Automotive markets see 492,527 registrations as Geely updates Panda Mini

Automotive market data from January to August 2026 shows a total of 492,527 new vehicle registrations. In Thailand, Toyota led the market with 170,499 units, followed by Honda with 51,631 and Isuzu with 45,863. Chinese manufacturers also maintained a significant presence, with BYD recording 31,772 registrations.

In China, Geely is attempting to regain market share in the competitive micro-EV segment with the updated Panda Mini Karting Edition. The model now features a 17.2 kWh LFP battery manufactured by CATL. Despite having accumulated over 426,000 deliveries since its launch, Geely reported a 77% year-on-year decline in Panda Mini sales between January and July 2026, with 23,377 units sold during that period. The updated model is being offered at a promotional price of 43,900 yuan (approximately $6,540 USD) in the Chinese market.
