Automotive SBOM market projected to reach $1.8 billion by 2034
The global automotive Software Bill of Materials (SBOM) market is projected to grow from $440 million in 2026 to $1.8 billion by 2034. This growth, representing a 19.3% compound annual growth rate, is driven by the rise of software-defined vehicles, increasing cybersecurity regulations, and complex software supply chains.
Electric vehicles and buses/coaches are expected to be the fastest-growing segments. Geographically, China is estimated to hold approximately 24.8% of the global revenue by 2026, while the United States is estimated at 19%.
SBOMs serve as machine-readable inventories of software components, identifying names, versions, and dependencies. When paired with supply-chain attestations—which record how a release was produced—they allow developers and security responders to verify artifact provenance and respond more effectively to vulnerability disclosures. Industry experts note that the challenge is shifting from merely producing component lists to continuously analyzing complex firmware and binaries to manage real-time risks.
