Indonesia automotive market sees growth in hybrid and electric vehicle sales
Indonesia's automotive market showed significant activity through July 2026, with total car sales reaching 511,514 units from January to July, a 12.3 percent year-on-year increase. The electric and hybrid vehicle segment is experiencing rapid growth, with hybrid sales accounting for 33.4 percent of the total 23,949 xEV units sold in July.
In the July wholesales rankings, the Daihatsu Gran Max Pick-Up led with 4,449 units, followed by the BYD Atto 1 with 4,233 units. The Toyota Kijang Innova Zenix and Reborn models saw a decline in distribution, dropping to third place with 4,176 units. Toyota continues to dominate the hybrid segment, with the Innova Zenix HEV (2,429 units) and Veloz HEV (2,140 units) leading the market.
Suzuki has seen strong momentum with its new XL7 facelift. The model recorded over 1,300 orders within 16 days of its introduction at GIIAS 2026, with the Alpha Hybrid variant accounting for approximately 47 percent of those orders. PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales has begun national distribution and ceremonial deliveries to customers in the Jabodetabek area.
