Automotive suppliers expand repair options for electric and hybrid vehicles
The automotive aftermarket is seeing an increase in both supply and demand for electric and hybrid vehicle components. At the Automechanika trade fair in Frankfurt, suppliers demonstrated new ways to economically repair older electric vehicles and hybrids after their warranties expire.
While high-voltage batteries often have long lifespans, other expensive components of the electric drivetrain may not be covered by the standard eight-year battery warranty. To address this, companies like ZF have developed new repair kit families for battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and hybrids, drawing on experience from producing millions of electric motors. Additionally, suppliers such as Borg-Warner are providing components like heaters for thermal management to support the growing need for specialized EV parts.
