Automotive technology impacts vehicle safety and passenger comfort
Recent observations and tests regarding modern vehicle technologies highlight two distinct areas of driver and passenger experience: safety mechanisms and physical comfort.
Tests conducted by police in Germany and content creators have demonstrated that activating an electronic parking brake while a vehicle is in motion typically results in a controlled and rapid stop. The systems often engage all four brakes and the ABS to prevent loss of control, though the smoothness of the deceleration can vary depending on the vehicle's sophistication.
Regarding passenger comfort, there are anecdotal reports suggesting that electric vehicles may contribute to increased motion sickness. While not scientifically proven to cause more kinetosis, the unique characteristics of electric cars—such as reduced engine noise and different acceleration profiles—may exacerbate the sensory conflict between visual input and the vestibular system in the inner ear.
