Automotive technology shifts toward digital integration and racing-inspired innovation

The automotive industry is undergoing a digital transformation, shifting focus from traditional engine power to advanced electronics, including processors, large screens, and sophisticated sensor arrays. Brands such as OMODA & JAECOO, part of the Chery group, are implementing these technologies to enhance the digital user experience.

One notable advancement is the Remote Parking Assist (RPA) featured in the OMODA 7 SHS. This system utilizes 21 sensors, including peripheral cameras and ultrasonic radars, to create a 3D representation of the environment. Controlled via Bluetooth Low Energy from a key fob up to six meters away, the system manages steering, acceleration, braking, and gear changes at speeds up to 5 km/h. While the system automates the maneuver, the driver must still supervise the operation.

Historically, automotive innovation has been heavily driven by racing competitions. Technologies such as disc brakes, originally popularized by the Jaguar C-Type in 1953, were developed to provide superior heat dissipation and braking power under racing conditions before becoming standard in consumer vehicles. This legacy of using motorsport as a testing ground for technical superiority continues to influence modern vehicle development.
