Automotive trends shift toward electric vehicles and custom modifications
The automotive landscape is undergoing a significant transition toward electric vehicles. In Western Europe, the proportion of vehicles older than twenty years has risen from 18.6% to 30.9% over the last five years, with nearly half of new registrations being used cars. If the European Union enforces a ban on new internal combustion engine sales after 2035, the domestic used car market in certain regions may not see a majority shift to electric models until between 2040 and 2050.
In a separate development, a customized Geo Metro has appeared at auction. Originally a small, economical vehicle with a one-liter three-cylinder engine, this specific model has been heavily modified with a 5.3-liter LS4 V8 engine mounted in the rear. The modification includes a four-speed automatic transmission, rear-wheel drive, and widened fenders to accommodate 16-inch wheels from a Cadillac DeVille.
