Automotive industry advances with new hybrid and electric vehicle technologies

The automotive industry is seeing significant developments in electric and hybrid vehicle technologies. In Argentina, BYD is expanding its presence with the launch of the Seal 5 plug-in hybrid sedan, which offers up to 1,600 km of autonomy, alongside the Shark hybrid pickup and the Dolphin Mini electric car.

In Spain, the EBRO s900 PHEV SUV is entering the market, featuring 140 km of electric range and a combined autonomy of 1,050 km. This model aims to bridge the gap between daily electric commuting and long-distance travel using a thermal engine. Additionally, the OCU reports that electric vehicle reliability is now comparable to combustion engines, with potential energy savings of over 9,000 euros per 100,000 km when charging at home.

High-performance electric segments are also evolving, highlighted by the Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 4Matic+, which utilizes three axial flux motors to deliver 680 CV and an 800-volt architecture. Meanwhile, data regarding a Tesla Model Y suggests that battery degradation is not solely tied to frequent fast charging, as high mileage can result from extreme daily driving distances rather than charging habits alone.
