Autonomous Defense Systems secures drone contract with Portuguese Army
Autonomous Defense Systems (ADS), a company based in Palmela, has secured a contract worth approximately 134,000 euros with the Portuguese Army. The agreement involves the supply of 45 drones to infantry battalions stationed in the military zones of Madeira and the Azores.
The order includes 30 tactical 7-inch FPV drones, nine quadcopters for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR), and six training drones. These systems, named after birds from the Autonomous Regions, are designed and assembled in Portugal.
Following this contract, ADS is expanding its focus toward dual-use unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs). The company has identified Ukraine and Brazil as priority markets for its export ambitions and is currently in consultations with various national and international defense and security entities regarding coastal surveillance.
