Autonomous Port of Dakar reintegrates 288 contract workers
Doune Pathé Mbengue, the newly appointed Director General of the Autonomous Port of Dakar, has reintegrated 288 contract workers. The decision, announced during a ceremony at the Dakar-Gorée maritime station on September 12, 2026, specifically targets employees who had completed two or three consecutive contracts.
This action is the first concrete step under the 'Port Bu Bess' vision and aligns with the Social Stability Pact and instructions from President Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye. The move aims to reduce socio-professional tensions within the institution.
In addition to staff reintegration, port official Alboury Diop highlighted the need for eight structural reforms, including the finalization of a collective agreement and the strengthening of social dialogue. The port is also preparing for the 2026 Youth Olympic Games.
