Nvidia and Germany partner to advance industrial AI
Nvidia and the German government have signed a letter of intent to accelerate the development and integration of Physical AI and industrial AI models. Announced at the Invest in Germany summit in Berlin, the initiative aims to bolster Germany’s technological competitiveness by applying AI to its core manufacturing, automotive, and engineering sectors.
The partnership involves hundreds of millions of euros in public funding and includes major industrial players such as Siemens and Audi, alongside the AI startup Black Forest Labs. A key component of the strategy is utilizing Deutsche Telekom’s Industrial AI Cloud, which is equipped with Nvidia’s Blackwell hardware, to provide businesses with necessary computing capacity.
In a separate but related industrial application, Siemens and Nvidia are using a plant in Erlangen as a blueprint for autonomous factories. By utilizing digital twins and AI agents, the facility aims to reduce engineering workloads by up to 85% in specific processes and achieve cost savings of up to 20% through optimized production planning.
