Autoplanet expands in Chile as Soriana announces store closures in Mexico

Autoplanet has expanded its retail footprint in Chile with the opening of two new stores. The first location opened at Mall Plaza Oeste on August 19, followed by a second store in Casablanca in the Valparaíso Region on August 20. The expansion aims to meet increased demand for vehicle maintenance, spare parts, and accessories, particularly following the winter season when mechanical issues often rise.

In Mexico, Soriana is undergoing a strategic restructuring that includes the planned closure of 20 stores throughout 2026. This move is intended to reorganize operations, reduce costs, and adjust to changing consumer demands. While eight stores have already closed during the first quarter of the year, 12 more are scheduled to shut down. Confirmed closures include locations in the State of Mexico, Nuevo León, Jalisco, Michoacán, Chihuahua, and Hidalgo. The company clarified that these closures represent a business transformation rather than an exit from the Mexican market.
