Autostrada Biennale to present Prizren history in Brussels
Autostrada Biennale has been selected to participate in History Lab Europe, a project hosted by the House of European History in Brussels. This initiative, supported by the European Parliament, brings together various European cultural organizations to explore new methods of interpreting and presenting history.
As part of the Decentralised Outreach Programme, developed alongside the European Cultural Foundation and the European Roma Institute for Arts and Culture, the organization will launch a community-based project titled ‘The Life of a Place’. This project focuses on the transformation of former German NATO/KFOR military camp hangars in Prizren into the Autostrada Hangar – Center for Contemporary Art.
Scheduled to take place throughout 2026 and 2027, the project will utilize oral histories, archival research, and audiovisual documentation to examine how the identity of the site has evolved. The initiative will produce a multimedia video work and a community publication, with the final outcomes to be presented in Brussels in 2027.
