Four of the eight new Karsan electric midi buses recently introduced in Rijeka have experienced technical issues within just three days of operation. The fleet, valued at approximately 5.43 million euros including VAT, was supplied to Autotrolej by WAWA d. o. o. and comes with an eight-year warranty.

Reported issues include a vehicle entering safe mode after roof sensors were triggered by contact with tree branches, door malfunctions, and communication errors between a tachograph and the onboard computer. Autotrolej has addressed these incidents, stating that the problems involve sensor malfunctions rather than major mechanical failures.

Management emphasized that technical difficulties are common when introducing new technological systems and that the systems are currently adapting to real-world conditions. Autotrolej also noted that other public transport operators in Croatia using electric vehicles have reported similar challenges.
