Autumn festivals scheduled at Japanese shrines in October
Various autumn festivals are scheduled to take place at shrines in Japan during October 2026.
In Osaka, Shibajima Shrine will host its autumn festival on October 15. The event features Kagura performances, traditional music with danjiri and drums, and various food stalls. The shrine is historically significant as a site related to the cotton bleaching industry of the Edo period.
In Saga City, the ‘Aki no Hinomine-san’ festival will be held from October 10 to October 12 at Saga Shrine and Matsubara Shrine. The festivities include Shinkosai ceremonies, traditional Japanese drumming, and floating performances. A ‘Niagara fireworks’ display is scheduled for the evening of October 11 and 12, alongside flower displays and street stalls.
