Autumn foliage festivals scheduled in Fukui and Saitama prefectures
Two regional autumn foliage festivals are scheduled to take place in Japan.
The 47th Kuzuryu Autumn Leaves Festival will be held at the Kuzuryu National Recreation Area in Ono City, Fukui Prefecture, on October 31 and November 1. The event features a “Koyo Market” with 19 stalls offering local specialties such as handmade soba, grilled ayu, and local sake. A popular large-pot dish featuring Nagoya Cochin chicken sukiyaki and Kuzuryu maitake mushrooms will be available in limited quantities. The festival includes stage events, bingo, and shuttle bus services from JR Kuzuryu Lake Station.
The Arashiyama Valley Autumn Leaves Festival is set for November 28 and 29 in Arashiyama Town, Saitama Prefecture. The event includes a “Koyo Gourmet Marche” at the Arashiyama Valley BBQ area, featuring local food trucks and agricultural products. On November 29, volunteer guides will provide tours of the valley’s historical sites and scenic views. The peak foliage period, or “Best Viewing Week,” is scheduled from November 14 to December 6. Visitors are advised to use detour routes due to path closures caused by previous heavy rainfall.
