Harz region offers expanded transit and autumn tourism
The Harz region in Germany has expanded its HATIX (Harzer Urlaubs-Ticket) program as of January 2026. Overnight guests in participating municipalities can now use this digital or physical guest card to access selected regional trains in the Goslar and Göttingen districts at no additional cost, in addition to the existing free bus and tram services in the Harz and Goslar districts.
As autumn progresses, the region is seeing increased interest in nature activities. Visitors are advised to exercise caution when encountering wildlife, such as red deer during their rutting season or wild boar with young. The area, including the Brocken and Bodetal, is also noted for its atmospheric misty landscapes and the 'Brockengespenst' optical phenomenon.
