Autumn seasonal maintenance for balconies and garden waste

As autumn approaches, experts provide guidance on managing household items and garden waste to prevent damage and environmental issues.

To protect belongings on balconies, it is recommended to move textiles, such as outdoor furniture cushions, blankets, and rugs, into dry, warm indoor spaces. Exposure to autumn humidity, temperature fluctuations, and condensation can lead to mold, unpleasant odors, and structural damage to padding. If indoor storage is unavailable, items should be placed in airtight containers only after being completely dried.

Regarding garden maintenance, environmentalists advise proper handling of green waste like fallen leaves and grass clippings. The preferred method is composting, which creates natural fertilizer. If composting is not feasible, waste should be taken to designated collection sites rather than being mixed with municipal waste, which can contaminate recyclables and encourage pests. Burning green waste is permitted only in exceptional circumstances and must strictly adhere to environmental and fire safety regulations to prevent the release of greenhouse gases.
