Autumnal traditions and nature trails highlighted in South Tyrol and Tarvisio

In the Alto Adige region, the towns of Lana, Foiana, and Tesimo-Prissiano are hosting the Keschtnriggl chestnut festival from October 15 to November 8. The event celebrates the historical importance of the chestnut, which served as a vital food source for mountain populations. The festival is named after the Keschtnriggl, a traditional rural tool made of hazelnut and chestnut wood used by local farmers and winegrowers to peel roasted chestnuts.

In Tarvisio, the Valcanale area is promoting various autumn hiking routes through the Julian Alps. Options include the Bobnia Path in Camporosso, which is suitable for seniors and children, and a walk to the Tiglio di Napoleone, a tree over 350 years old. Other activities include the Lynx Path in Cervi Park and digital treasure hunts designed for younger visitors.
