Ava Kemp and Yohnatan Elizarov prepare for senior Grand Prix debut

Winnipeg pair skaters Ava Kemp and Yohnatan Elizarov are preparing for their senior ISU Grand Prix debut at Skate Canada International in Kelowna, British Columbia. During practice sessions at Prospera Place, the reigning world junior champions worked to adjust to the NHL-sized rink and the soft ice conditions, which can create ruts that affect jump take-offs.

The duo, who transitioned from singles skating to pairs following pandemic-related rink closures, began their partnership in 2021 after a tryout in Regina. Their upcoming competition in Kelowna marks a significant step in their transition to elite senior-level competition.
