AVA Thermalpark Diakovce reopens all pools after water quality clearance

All pools at the AVA Thermalpark Diakovce thermal resort have reopened following laboratory tests that confirmed water quality meets the requirements set by the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic.

The closure of three specific areas—the family relaxation pool, the relaxation pool, and the slide with its landing area—was ordered by the Regional Public Health Authority (RÚVZ) in Nitra. This action followed an incident on August 6, where 16 visitors experienced sudden illness after contact with an unknown substance, resulting in eight hospitalizations. All affected individuals have since recovered.

Initial inspections by the RÚVZ on August 7 identified levels of microorganisms that could cause digestive issues in sensitive groups, such as children and seniors, if swallowed. However, subsequent testing of chlorine and ammonia levels showed all monitored substances were within standard limits. Following corrective measures taken by the operator, repeated water sampling confirmed that the water quality is now safe, leading to the approval for reopening.
