AVAFAM celebrates 60 years supporting large families in Valencia

The Valencian Association of Large Families (AVAFAM) celebrated its 60th anniversary with events in Valencia, highlighting the challenges and social contributions of the region's more than 84,000 large families.

During the closing ceremonies, Valencia Mayor María José Catalá and Social Services Counselor Elena Albalat emphasized the importance of families as economic and demographic drivers. The Mayor reaffirmed municipal support through various initiatives, including property tax (IBI) discounts ranging from 60% to 90% for large families, new aid for early-morning childcare to assist with work-life balance, and the creation of baby vouchers and breastfeeding rooms in municipal markets.

Participants at the anniversary events discussed critical issues such as education, mental health, and the need for greater social recognition and support to facilitate the free decision to have children.
