Avalon Waterways announces 2027 Active & Discovery cruise itineraries

Avalon Waterways has announced its 2027 itineraries for its Active & Discovery river cruise travel style. This program is designed to offer immersive European journeys through a variety of excursion styles, including classic sightseeing, hands-on discovery such as cooking classes or brewery visits, and active adventures like kayaking, hiking, or e-biking.

On a single itinerary, travelers can access up to 28 excursions, allowing for a customizable experience. The cruise line utilizes Suite Ships with an average of 150 guests and a 3:1 guest-to-crew ratio to maintain small shore excursion groups.

A key feature of the fleet is the Panorama Suite, which accounts for 80 per cent of accommodations. These suites are approximately 30 per cent larger than the industry standard and feature floor-to-ceiling windows and an Open-Air Balcony design, with beds positioned to face the river views.
