Avatar Legends fighting game adds Ozai, Avatar Aang and Nightmare Korra to roster
Paramount Games' upcoming fighting title Avatar Legends has completed its initial roster of twelve characters. The latest announcement introduced fire lord Ozai, an empowered Avatar Aang, and a darker version of Korra called Nightmare Korra, alongside the previously revealed Zaheer, whose aerial mobility and anarchist philosophy promise a unique play style.
Developers from Gameplay Group International, including founder Victor Lugo, creative executive Dominick Cuccurullo, and co‑creator Michael Dante Dimartino, explained how they balanced characters from both the original Avatar series and The Legend of Korra while preserving narrative consistency. The game, slated for release on July 23, 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC, features hand‑drawn animations with up to 900 frames per fighter.
A recent video interview and gameplay previews highlighted the design challenges and the team’s confidence that the title will satisfy fans and deliver competitive balance.
