Avatar franchise expands with new series and Seven Havens renewal

At the New York Comic Con, major expansions to the Avatar franchise were announced. Paramount+ has officially renewed the new animated series, Avatar: Seven Havens, for two additional seasons, which will be referred to as Books 3 and 4. The series, which premiered on October 9, 2026, is set 225 years after The Legend of Korra in a post-apocalyptic world. It follows Pavi, a young earthbender who discovers she is the Avatar in a society that fears the role due to a past cataclysm.

Additionally, a new prequel series titled Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos was announced. This production will focus on the life of the Water Tribe Avatar, Kuruk, set three generations before the events of Avatar: The Last Airbender. The series will feature a rebellious teenage Kuruk navigating adventures involving pirates, spirits, and traditional training. Both series are being developed by Avatar Studios and Nickelodeon Animation Studios, with original creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko serving as showrunners.
