Ave Fénix University Classroom reopens at Penitentiary Unit 27
The “Ave Fénix” University Classroom has been reopened at Penitentiary Unit No. 27 to support the educational paths of incarcerated students. The space has been refurbished to facilitate university-level studies within the facility.
Currently, students are enrolled in undergraduate degrees in Social Anthropology and Social Communication through the Faculty of Social Sciences (FACSO) at UNICEN. The reopening ceremony included university and penitentiary officials, such as FACSO Dean Gustavo Flensborg and Inspector Major Manuel Gastón Collado.
Flensborg emphasized the role of education as a tool for building new horizons and seeking equality, stating that the institution is “betting on a more just, equal territory” where students can find a sense of freedom through learning.
