Estudiantes and Flamengo draw 0-0 in Libertadores semifinal first leg

Estudiantes de La Plata and Flamengo played to a 0-0 draw in the first leg of the 2026 CONMEBOL Libertadores semifinals at the Estadio UNO in La Plata, Argentina.

Estudiantes controlled much of the match, creating numerous opportunities, including a dangerous shot from Tiago Palacios that was saved by Flamengo goalkeeper Agustín Rossi. The Argentine side recorded 21 shots during the encounter, while Flamengo struggled to generate offensive pressure, failing to register a single shot on target.

The match was marked by high intensity and several disciplinary incidents, including a yellow card for Flamengo’s Lucas Paquetá following a collision with Ezequiel Piovi. Estudiantes manager Alexander Medina expressed frustration regarding the administrative decision by CONMEBOL that prevented defender Marcos Rojo from participating in the semifinal.

The tie remains open, with the second leg scheduled to take place at the Maracanã stadium in Rio de Janeiro on October 22. The winner of the series will advance to the final to face either Palmeiras or Fluminense.
