Avellino authorities manage Airola wildfire and local security patrols

Authorities in the Avellino province are managing multiple public safety concerns, including an ongoing wildfire and increased police presence during local festivities.

In response to the Airola fire, an institutional meeting was held between the Prefecture of Avellino, the ASL of Avellino, ARPAC, and local mayors to monitor public health risks. As smoke clouds shift toward the Partenio municipalities, officials are using high-flow samplers to detect dioxins and other pollutants. A mobile laboratory is providing hourly data on fine particles, with a focus on Cervinara and Rotondi. Firefighters plan to use robotic devices to assist in extinguishing the blaze due to difficult site conditions.

Separately, the Carabinieri intensified patrols in Montefalcione during patron saint celebrations. These operations resulted in several legal actions, including a driver caught with a blood alcohol level four times the legal limit and another driver operating an uninsured vehicle without a license. Police also intervened in a street altercation involving a resident who resisted arrest.
