Avengers: Doomsday set for early release in China

Disney has confirmed that ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ will arrive in Chinese theaters on December 16, two days ahead of its scheduled United States release on December 18. In the Chinese market, the film is titled ‘Avengers 5’ and is currently the most anticipated Hollywood film of 2026.

Early interest metrics on the Chinese ticketing platform Maoyan suggest the film is approaching the hype levels seen for ‘Avengers: Endgame’. At 69 days before release, ‘Doomsday’ has reached approximately 96% of the ‘want-to-see’ count recorded by ‘Endgame’ at the same interval.

Promotional efforts in China include a new local poster featuring Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. The film will be available in several premium formats, including IMAX, 3D, and Dolby. The upcoming installment will feature the return of several Marvel Cinematic Universe characters, including Thor, Captain America, and Loki, while introducing Doctor Doom as the primary antagonist.
