Averof Neofytou criticizes DISY leadership over internal polls

Former DISY President Averof Neofytou has criticized the handling of a recent internal party poll conducted by DISY leader Anita Demetriou. Speaking on Feydia Panagiotou’s podcast, Neofytou stated he was never informed of the poll's intention, its results, the selection of the polling company, or the content of the questionnaire.

Neofytou characterized these omissions as serious matters, suggesting the poll could be used to prematurely shape the landscape of future leadership contests. The poll, released in late July, indicated Demetriou holds a significant position among potential contenders, including Nikos Christodoulides and Andreas Mavroyiannis.

Regarding the Cyprus issue, Neofytou criticized both President Nikos Christodoulides and Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Ersümer, noting a lack of substantive negotiations as both sides deflect responsibility. Neofytou also addressed Panagiotou directly, advising him to choose between personal popularity and acting in the best interest of the country.
