Aversa: Partial collapse at San Francesco delle Monache complex
A portion of the San Francesco delle Monache complex collapsed on Thursday morning in the historic center of Aversa, Italy. The incident occurred within the monastery's cloister area near the municipal building.
No injuries were reported, as the affected area was closed to the public due to known structural issues and was already considered unusable. Emergency responders, including firefighters, local police, and civil authorities, arrived at the scene to secure the perimeter and assess potential further dangers.
Local officials, including Mayor Francesco Matacena and Bishop Angelo Spinillo, were present at the site. The Superintendency will conduct inspections to determine the extent of the damage and establish necessary safety and restoration measures for the 13th-century complex.
