Aversa prison: Police intercept mobile phone smuggling attempt

Prison police in Aversa, Caserta, intercepted an attempt to smuggle mobile phones and electronic accessories into the local correctional facility by throwing them over the perimeter wall.

During surveillance near the prison's outer wall, officers observed a black Ford Focus parked in a nearby area. A passenger, identified as Achouri Arbi—a former inmate of the facility—attempted to flee after being spotted by authorities, abandoning a white plastic bag. The driver, a Neapolitan citizen, was also detained.

Inside the abandoned bag, officers recovered four mini-cell phones, five smartphones, eight SIM cards, eight USB cables, and four chargers. The items were intended for inmates to use in the facility's outdoor recreation area. Investigations are ongoing to determine the full scope of the smuggling attempt and the involvement of the individuals caught.
